67 days til Boston… I think.
175, 10.3%, didn’t sleep well.
Had a sore stomach this morning that woke me up for a early trip to the bathroom. I was planning to go to the gym early to knock out my workout before work, but that didn’t seem like a good idea with the sore stomach.
Had a busy day with people coming to the office. Got to wear a suit and look like a pro!
Managed to hit the treadmill for this easy-ish tempo run. 3 sets of 8 minutes at a zone 3 effort.
I got my daily pushups and situps in to kick start the engine.
I got a full stretching routine before and after the workout.
The reps felt ok.
I’m cycling through my old Brooks Launch for these shorter tempo and speed workouts. I find them more responsive than the Hoka Cliftons. The Hokas are great for the longer stuff but are a bit clunky for the speed sessions.
I set the tempo pace at 8 minute miles flat, which is marathon race pace for me now. That should be a low zone 3, high zone 2 effort for me. For some reason I find my heart rates don’t correlate as well on the treadmill. I end up just ignoring the HR and running by ‘feel’ or effort.
At least on the treadmill you get some sense of pace. I did the recovery reps at 9 min miles. Was not a hard workout.
I had a green smoothie with me and sucked that down as I stretched after.
I listened to Lance Armstrong interview Ryan Hall on Lance’s podcast. Ryan has a new book coming out that they are going to launch at the Boston Marathon. I ran with Ryan in New York when we were both ASICS athletes – obviously different types of sponsorship! Maybe I’ll see if he wants to come on my podcast.
Stomach feels better. Knees are still sore.
Facebook served me up a great picture of Buddy and I from 2012 tonight. We both have ice in our beards returning from a run!
No long run this weekend. Going to a firearm safety class with Yvonne. We are getting our FID cards.
Se you out there!
