This is an episode from the first version of the RunRunLive podcast. In it I interview Jeff Galloway. I believe it was early in the year of 2009. Maybe February. I had been at the podcast for about a year and a half.
I was thoroughly enjoying my running then. I had just rolled off a successful 50 miler in the fall and was qualified for Boston. I ran to work and back in the middle of the winter, 17.5 mile sin each direction! Crazy.
But I knew I was getting older and was thinking about how I could adjust my competitiveness to stay in the game without overdoing it. How to co-exist with an endurance lifestyle without having it take up too much of my life or hurt me. One of the reasons I wanted to talk to Jeff was that I wanted to know how he had done this transition so successfully. You can hear me probing for this in the interview.
I was confident in my podcasting and had discovered that all these semi-famous running personalities, like Jeff, where extremely approachable. The audio was terrible. I was never an audiophile and used a cheap USB mic. I was trying different things. It was a creative time.
It’s got the old intro where every week I would invite someone from the community to call in with an intro. It was fun and people loved the voices of the community but it was a pain in the butt to edit into the show. I would have to beg for entries and then try to fix the audio when they came in.
I used to crank this out every week. I was able to do it because I recorded the segments on the fly while out running with Buddy anyhow – dual tasking.
Hope you enjoy it. I edited out the music at the end and the original outro. Let me know your thoughts.
Cheers,
Chris,
