Hello my running friends.  Welcome to episode 5-509 of the RunRunLive podcast.

Woof Woof!  Bark Bark! – Yes I figured you needed a break from the intense intellectualization of the why are we so hateful as a culture – so I dusted off this really fun interview I had in the can with Sean about his dog-running business.

(Not that I’m abandoning the other topic – I am going to have 3 more discussions around that and hopefully provide you with some useful tools to reclaim your souls)

In section one I’m going to talk about back strengthening for runners

In section two I’m going to talk about an idea I have about gathering data on trash.

Sean was a great conversation.  After that talk I was thinking this might be the retirement dream job for me!

We love our dogs.

Dogs make us happy.

Be happy.

On with the show.

Section Two: Rubbish

Outro

Well my friends, you have picked up 42 empty wild-berry Vodka nip bottles on the way the the end of another RunRunLive Podcast, Episode 5-509 in the trash can – or as my old Irish relatives would say ‘the ash can’.

I’m going to keep this short because I’m heading out the door with my wife for a long weekend down to Asheville for a Niece’s wedding.  But also to get away and have some change of scenery.

Everything is going well with my training.  I’m starting to think about what I want to do for my summer cycle after the Canyon run.  I’ve got the fitness that make’s me think about maybe another qualification try in September.

The Boston Marathon is this weekend.  And I am not even going to be in town for it!

How things have changed.  I still have people reaching out and asking what my number is and I need to tell them I’m not running it!

Last night my running club met at a brewery on the route that the American Revolutionary soldiers marched into Concord and we ran part of that.  It is the 250th anniversary of the battles at Concord And Lexington – ‘the shot heard round the world’ – that kicked off the American Revolution.  I live maybe 6 – 8 miles from the Old North Bridge.

Anyhow – when Ollie and I left the house it was 65 and sunny.  My plan was to get out for 45-50 minutes before and then run the 5K with the club.  I was wondering if I would need sunscreen and sunglasses.   10 Minutes into our run a black front moved across and there were 20 mph winds and driving cold rain.  Then we met up with the club and it stopped raining and I felt great pushing up the hills with my friends.

The reason the British Came out from Boston was to confiscate the gunpowder, cannons and weapons that the towns had in their armories.  The colonist moved all that over to Groton, where I grew up before the Red Coats got to Concord.  In fact the school I attended was on Powder Hill Rd in Groton, as in gun powder.

So we run in the footsteps of gun crazy revolutionaries this week.

Like I said – I haven’t stopped my research and reporting on the hate and outrage epidemic.  I have three more tranches of that for you.

The next one will be with a professor who talks about the impact of group dynamics on this.  The subsequent discussion will be on how living in hate is really bad for you physically and mentally.

Then I have another final interview after that – so four total.

Hopefully these will give you some understanding and tools to find moderation and health in this unsettled world.

And I’ll see you out there.
