Still have that cold everyone has.  It’s an ambulatory sickness.  It started last week as a small sore throat.  I had a fever for a couple days and was tired but never felt like I had to take a day off.  I’ve had the sniffles but never any sort of stuffed up nose or sinus infection symptoms.

This weekend it seems to have moved to my lungs.  Woke up with a persistent cough Saturday night.  Not sure if it is actually in my lungs or just the post-nasal drip that is causing the cough.  Again, there is nothing debilitating about this cold but I’m sick of it.

Added a teaspoon of nutritional yeast powder to my oatmeal this morning per Rachel’s suggestion.  Maybe it’s just this brand but the taste is not great.  It has a cloying sweetness in it that hangs around ling after the food is gone.

Feel a bit stuck around the 180-pound mark.  I feel like I should be making better progress.  My workouts are good and I’m healthy, but I just feel like the numbers should be moving.  I have to have patience.

I did a little boredom eating last night before bed.  Made some Sweet Potato Fries. They didn’t come out great.  Too salty and unevenly cooked. Maybe too much oil.  But – I ate them anyhow!  Also had some dill pickles before bed.  There was no need to eat either of those things.

Coach has me on a light week.  Not much calorie burn so I’ll have to pay attention to the diet.  He has given me a 5K time trial on the weekend.  We’ll see how that goes.  It will be interesting to see how much ‘pop’ I have in my legs from the clean eating program.

Prepped a really nice green chard salad for this week.  Very good.  Also made some Chic Peas or Garbanzo Beans.  These are a great source of clean calories and protein.  My daughter had been reducing bone broth in the rice cooker ahead of me in line.  I didn’t wash it out, but used that residue when I cooked my chic peas.

Chic peas are like any other dry beans.  You buy them for basically free in a bag at any store.  Soak them for a day.  Rinse and slow cook.  They have little taste on their own so you can add them to salads or anything else that need some protein.

I also made some wild black rice that has a nice nutty flavor to it.

Lastly, I’m looking for a way to keep my energy and creativity throughout the week.  I tend to run out of steam towards the end of the week.  I’d like to be able to keep my enthusiasm, energy and positive creativity throughout the entire day and throughout the entire week.

Any ideas, besides forcing myself to focus?
