57 days until the Boston Marathon
17.57 miles, 2:30, 8:33 avg pace. Garmin says about 800 ft of elevation gain and loss.
173.4 Pounds out of bed, 9.9% body fat. (169.8 before getting in the shower after my run – including having rehydrated ~80 oz misc fluids, a banana and 2 apples)
Got out with Brian and Tim. Solid run this morning. We did the Mt. Lebanon loop twice. Basically, a big hill in the middle of our route. Some solid work pulling up the hill and pushing the form on the way down. Good Boston specific training.
My legs were a little tired from a big week and I was a bit trepidatious. This was my 5th run this week and probably got me over 50 miles. I did a solid set of Yasso 800’s on the treadmill Tuesday and a 7 X 7 Tempo at 5k pace Friday. Saturday I went out in the woods for an easy 7ish.
I think what Coach is trying to do here is put me into my long run day with legs a
wee bit tired. I get it. But when I’m heading out with the boys I’m worried that I’m going to be left for dead somewhere when my legs fail.
We didn’t surge, per se, but we really worked the hills, up and down. My legs were a bit tired going in but responded well.
Those guys took off at the end and I let them go. I looked at my watch and it said we just ran a 7:40 mile and I could tell we were going to com
e in well shy of the 2:30 I needed, so I backed off and just did loops on the tired legs to get the time.
Nothing failed. Form good. I was fighting it at the end. Feel good.
Being skinny makes me look taller.
I tried to do one of those ‘leaping in exhilaration’ photos that are all the rage on Instagram, but I believe those have an age limit. This is my 6 inches of vertical lift after 17.5 miles!
